Choose the working relationship that's right for you
How You Can Work with Our Investment Firm and Financial Advisors
At Infinity Financial we offer both commission-based and fee-based service arrangements, so you have the power to choose which working relationship works best for you. If you’d like to change our working arrangement in the future, just ask. There’s no need to switch investment firms just to take advantage of a different way of working together or a higher level of service.
Following are explanations of the ways we can work with you. Feel free to call us if you would like to discuss these options further.
When is it best to choose fee-only financial planning?
Fee-only financial planning is perfect for people who are seeking a one-time analysis, a second opinion on an existing plan, or who utilize a tactical method of investing. With this option, you pay a one-time fee or flat hourly rate for your consultation time with us. During our consultation, we’ll sit down together and review your investments and/or develop a personalized financial plan based on your needs and goals.
When is it best to choose commission-based financial planning?
Choosing commission-based financial planning is best for investors who utilize a buy-and-hold philosophy for their stock portfolio, have a static or laddered bond-based portfolio, have an account with a sizable cash balance or a concentration of stock in a single company, or have a break-point eligible mutual fund portfolio (mutual funds that offer a discount that reduces or eliminates the front-end sales charge for larger investments). Clients choosing this type of working relationship often are more experienced investors who are looking for advice to complement their own research, opinions, experiences, and decisions—or ones that hold investments such as annuities that help protect their portfolio from loss and inflation.
When is it best to choose annual-fee-based financial planning?
When you choose an annual-fee-based working relationship, we become your investment advisor and representative and are compensated by means of an annual fee that is typically based on a percentage of the assets you have under our management. This fee includes the development and implementation of a personalized financial plan, total investment monitoring, and direct access to us and our services at any time.
If you choose this type of account, you may set up your relationship with us in one of two ways: 1) “with discretion,” with us having power of attorney to make investment decisions for you, or 2) “nondiscretionary,” with us executing investment decisions only after receiving your prior authorization. In either case, we take on the role of a “fiduciary” (a person who is entrusted with the management of property and has the power to act on behalf of and for the benefit of another person).
This option is ideal for long-term, growth-oriented investors and offers you the option to be as “hands on” or “hands off” as you wish. Many investors also believe that this option gives their investment professionals an even greater incentive to produce growth, because when clients do better, the investment firm does better also.
